Can Dentures Get Adjusted if they Start to Get Loose?

Can Dentures Get Adjusted if they Start to Get Loose?Teeth give us the ability to eat well as well as speak. The loss of some or all of one's teeth can be devastating. However, in such a case, you can have dentures installed to replace the missing teeth and restore the normal dental functions of your mouth. Dentures are made by taking a model of the inside of the mouth; this includes the size, shape, and gaps left by missing teeth. However, they may get loose with time, but you can always get them adjusted by visiting our offices.

Why Do Dentures Get Loose?

Your jaw is lined up with teeth growing from the roots outward. However, an unfortunate loss of teeth will also mean loss of their respective roots. When a gap is left in the jaw, the bone size starts to shrink, and adjacent teeth start to grow out of their normal position, further distorting the shape of your jaw. Owing to the fact that your dentures are custom made, they retain the size and shape of the original model that was used to manufacture them. The disparity in fitting comes about because your jaw has shrunk in size. This is what causes your dentures to be loose-fitting.

What to Do About Loose-Fitting Dentures

Denture adhesives are a very common way to deal with this problem. This is a popular solution due to its convenience. However, it is advisable to schedule an appointment with our professionals for proper diagnosis and treatment. Also, relining the base of the dentures is another way of adjusting them to fit. Our professionals will adjust it to the perfect fit.

Frequent visits to our clinics will ensure your dentures get adjusted regularly to prevent them from getting loose or damaged. Our professionals will also be able to replace your damaged dentures with better-fitting ones. Don't hesitate to contact us for an appointment.
