How to Care for your Prosthodontic Replacement Teeth

How to Care for your Prosthodontic Replacement TeethIf you have lost teeth due to decay, gum disease, or injury, you may be a good candidate for prosthodontic replacement teeth. The artificial teeth are custom-made to look and feel like your natural teeth. It is essential to care for your prosthetic teeth to keep them looking and functioning their best. This blog post will discuss the tips for taking care of your prosthetic teeth!

Brush your teeth regularly

Prosthetic teeth are delicate and must be brushed regularly to stay clean and avoid infection. Be sure to use a soft-bristled toothbrush and gentle toothpaste. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasives that could damage your prosthesis. A good-quality toothbrush and toothpaste are all you need to keep your prosthesis clean and sparkling.

Floss your teeth daily

Flossing is critical to taking care of your teeth, and it's just as important when you have prosthetic teeth. Ensure to floss at least once daily, using gentle pressure and a slow back-and-forth motion. You can use regular dental floss or an interdental brush.

Flossing involves getting the dental floss between your teeth and under the gum line. You'll need to be careful not to damage your gums or prosthetic teeth.

See your dentist for regular checkups and cleanings

Prosthetic teeth require the same care as your natural teeth. See a reputed dentist every six months for a cleaning and checkup. Regular checkups will include an examination of your teeth and gums, a cleaning by a dental hygienist, x-rays to check for problems below the gum line, and checking the fit of your denture or partial denture.

Avoid Beverages and Foods that Stain

Avoid beverages and foods known to stain teeth to help keep your prosthetic teeth looking their best. Coffee and red wine can make teeth stains, so it's best to enjoy them in moderation. If you do drink these, ensure to brush your teeth afterward.

Our dental clinic offers various prosthodontic tooth replacements, from dentures to implants. If you have recently had any of these treatments, properly taking care of your new teeth is essential.
