Anterior Dental Crowns
Houston, TX

Dental crown model at Alexandra Garcia, DDS, MS in Houston, TXYou want a smile that people are going to notice. You also want teeth that are strong and healthy. Unfortunately, it is easy to damage your front teeth. It could be that you broke a front tooth in a fall, or maybe you chipped a front tooth by chewing on the cap of a pen. Your front teeth could also be damaged because of decay. If you have an imperfection in your front teeth there is a good chance that you will try to hide it when you smile. If the tooth is chipped or broken you also might have a hard time biting food to eat. Here at Alexandra Garcia, DDS, MS, we are in the business of perfecting smiles. If you have a problem with one of your front teeth, come in so that we can see what we can do about it.

An Anterior Crown Could Be Your Solution

If one of your front teeth is damaged, there are a lot of options to choose from, such as bridges, crowns, dental bonding, veneers, and more. After a consultation, we might suggest an anterior crown. This will give you back your smile, and help you to have a strong tooth once again.

With a crown, we will first treat the tooth. We will grind it down or shape it so that it will be able to take the crown. We will then place the crown on top.

In most cases, the first crown that you receive will be temporary. That is so we can have the perfect crown for your smile made. When the new crown is ready, you will come back in, and we will bond it to your tooth. It will cover what is left of your tooth. It will be the new surface, and it will be permanent.

With an anterior crown, we need to take special care. If a crown is not going to be seen because it is in the back of your mouth, we might make it out of a metal alloy. With an anterior crown, we want to make sure that it perfectly matches the rest of your teeth.

One thing that we will talk about for an anterior crown is what material it should be made out of. For a long time, anterior crowns were made out of porcelain fused to metal. These crowns are strong, but some people did not like them because in the light they did not always mimic the natural teeth. These days we will often use anterior crowns that are made entirely of porcelain. These are stronger than they were in the past, and they are also more resistant to breaking than they used to be.

Remember, if you have a problem with an anterior crown, you need to contact us immediately. With proper care, your anterior crown should last.
