What Does a Prosthodontist Do?
When you come to see us for a flaw in your smile, you will see a dentist who practices prosthodontics. We are in the business of fixing imperfections and problems.
One of the problems that many people have is that they lose one or more teeth. That is something that you need to see a prosthodontist for. We can replace a missing tooth and in many cases will do it through a dental implant. This is a way that we can give you a brand new prosthetic tooth. It will look and feel just like a natural tooth.
If you need more than one tooth replaced, we might be able to help you with that as well. One of the things that we can do is a fixed bridge. This uses both dental implants and a bridge to replace several teeth in a row. A fixed bridge is permanent; it is not the same thing as a removable denture.
If the tooth can be saved, we have many ways that we might be able to repair it. One of those ways is with a dental crown. We will remove the damaged part of the tooth, and then we will cover what is left with a crown. That will become the new surface of your tooth.
Veneers are a way to improve your smile and take care of some imperfections. Veneers are made to cover the front of your teeth. They look natural, and they will give you a bright, white smile.
If you need several teeth and are not a good candidate for dental implants, or if you do not have the time for them, we can fit you with dentures. It could be partial dentures or complete dentures, depending on your needs.
